Q: Can orders be paid by check?
A: Yes- catering, pizza, and in-store rental pickups can be paid by check or prepaid. Rental deliveries must be secured with a credit card. If a customer would like to pay check for a rental delivery, it must be pre-paid in-store well in advance.

 

Q: Is it necessary to prepay for an order? 
A: Not usually, but certain orders may require payment in advance.

 

Q: Are deposits required? 
A: Not usually, but it is Salina's right to determine the necessity of a deposit. Deposits ARE REQUIRED for the following: 
     -Large catering orders over $1,500
     -Tent rentals and special orders. These have a $50 non-refundable deposit and must have credit card on file or be paid in full prior to delivery

 

Q: When determining a headcount, how should children be factored in? 
A: Ages 0-6: count 3 as 1  
    Ages 7-12: count 2 as 1  
    Ages 13+ : count as 1 adult
 
Q: Is a tip for the delivery driver included in the delivery charge 
A: No, any form of gratuity is left to the customer's discretion on most orders. However, gratuity may be added to large catering orders.
 
Q: Where will Salina's deliver catering to?
A: Salina's will deliver catering anywhere. Delivery charge is calculated based on distance from our store.
 
Q: How much is the rental delivery charge?
A: Catering and rental delivery charges vary based on location. Please click here to calculate your delivery charge

A: The delivery zone borders are the following: 
     -North: 143rd St 
     -Northwest: 151st St & Wolf Rd

Catering

 

Q: In the 2 entree catering package, approximately how many pieces of chicken are included?
A: Usually, chicken is portioned at 1 and 1/2 pieces per person.

 

Q:Do garlic breadsticks come with butter packets?
A:No, but butter packets can be added on to any order for a small charge.

 

Q:What kind of rice comes with the lemon chicken?
A: Lemon chicken is served with a side of white rice.

 

Q: If serving kabobs as the main entree, how many kabobs per person?
A: Kabobs are not included in any of our catering packages at this time. However, if kabobs are the only entree, 3 kabobs per person. 

 

Q:For an On-Site BBQ, how do I determine what time the cook should arrive at?
A:On-Site BBQs include a cook and cook's assistant for a four hour time period. We plan for approximately 1 hour for setup, 2.5 hours of cooking time, and a half hour of clean up. Therefore, it is best to plan for the cook to arrive at least 1 hour prior to the expected eat time.
 
Q:What is a gourmet roll similar to?
A: The gourmet roll is very similar to a hamburger or sandwich bun. 
 
Q: Is it possible to order the BBQ package without having an On-Site BBQ?
A: Yes, it is possible to order the BBQ package without having a cook come onsite to the event.
 
Q: What kind of meat are the hot dogs?
A: Our hot dogs are 100% beef products.

 

Q: How many sandwich rolls are included in packages?
A: All catering packages include 1 roll per person.

 

Q: How many servings are in 1 lb of breaded jumbo shrimp?
A: 1 lb of breaded jumbo shrimp equals approximately 20 pcs. Depending on other items, approximately 4- five piece servings would be recommended. However, shrimp is only offered during Lent.

 

Q: For cocktail trays, what is the recommended serving size?
A: Approximately 3 to 4 pieces per person is the recommended serving size.

 

Q:Approximately how many servings are there in one dozen bruschetta bites?
A: Approximately 3 to 4 servings per dozen bruschetta bites.

 

Q: Approximately how many servings are there in an order of bite-size Italian sausage?
A: Approximately 10-12 servings per order of Italian sausage.

Q: Is there a setup charge for tables and chairs?
A: Yes, there is a set up charge for tables and chairs that is based on circumstance.
 
Q. Can someone come out and do an on site evaluation?
A. Yes, a Salina's rental crew member can come to your location and see what options are available for tent size for an additional charge. Charge is based on location. Please call for details. You can, also, email us pictures and dimensions of your location to receive recommendations via email free of charge. Please click here to contact us for a recommendation

A: All chairs have a brown metal frame and a cream colored plastic back and seat.

Q. How high is a frame tent?
A. Frame tents are either 14'3" or 16'4" depending on the perimeter of the tent ordered.
 
 
 
 

Generators

Q: Can a generator be used to air condition a tent?
A: No, generators can be only be used to power appliances. They do not have any cooling functions.

 

Hot Dog Machine

Q: Is it necessary to purchase hot dogs with a hot dog cart rental?
A: No, hot dogs can be purchase from anywhere, but Salina's can make it easy and do it all for you.
 
 

 

Ice Cream Cart

Q: How long can the ice cream cart be unplugged before melting?
A: The ice cream cart can be unplugged for up to 8 hours and stay frozen as long as the door remains closed.
 
Q: Is it necessary to purchase ice cream with an ice cream cart rental?
A: No, it is not necessary. However, upon ordering 96+ ice cream treats with the ice cream cart, there is a significant discount from the ice cream cart rental price.
 
 

 

Inflatable Jumpers

Q: What surfaces can the inflatable jumper be set up on?
A: Inflatables can be set up only on grass or soft gymnasium flooring.
 
Q. Can inflatable jumpers be set up on driveway?
A. No, inflatable jumpers can only be setup on grass or soft gymnasium flooring. 
 
Q. How much additional space do I need around the jumper?
A. An additional 5 feet is required on all sides of the jumper.
 
Q. In case of severe weather can the jumper order be cancelled on the morning of my event?
A. Salina's makes safety it's #1 priority and will make a decision based on the weather conditions on whether or not it is safe to set up.
 
Q: Will I lose my deposit if the jumper rental is cancelled due to inclement weather?
A: No. The weather is an unforeseeable and uncontrollable factor.
 
 
 

 

J.U.L.I.E.

Q.What is J.U.L.I.E.?
A. J.U.L.I.E. stands for the Joint Utility Locating Information for Excavators and is the company who notifies any and all underground utility companies to mark all underground lines. 
 
Q.Does Salina's notify J.U.L.I.E.? 
A. Salina's will notify J.U.L.I.E. of all tent rental set ups. It required by law that Salina's does this.  No tent will be set up without a J.U.L.I.E. site evaluation.
 
Q: Does J.U.L.I.E. need to be contacted for pop-up shelters?
A: No, because pop-up shelters are only  set up for a few hours and do not need to be staked, J.U.L.I.E. is not required.
 
 

 

Lighting

Q:How many strands of globe lights are recommended for each specific tent size?
A: Tents up to 20x20 : 1 strand
    Tents 20x30 / 20x40 : 2 strands
    Tents larger than 20x40 : 3+ strands
 
Q: Are globe lights setup inside or outside of a tent?
A: Globe lights are setup inside of tent during the initial assembly by rental crews. 
 
Q: Does the customer setup globe lights?
A: No, they do not. Rental crews setup globe lights during initial assembly of tent.

 

Linen & Tablecovers

 
Q: What instances would table-covers be recommended?
A: Table covers, either disposable or linen, are recommended in all instances.
 
Q: Is there an additional charge for linen clips when ordering linen?
A: No, linen clips are included with each linen order.
 
Q: Does Salina's carry linen chair covers?
A: Salina's does not carry linen chair covers at this time. Our chairs have a a plastic cream colored back and seat and a brown metal frame that looks elegant for all occasions. 
 
Q.What are the choices as far as table coverings for 5 foot round tables?
A. 5' round tables have both disposable and linen tablecover options. We carry disposable plastic table covers with an elastic edge or actual table linen, which is rental only and offered in a variety of colors.
 
Q: Are table-covers available for umbrella tables?
A: We do not currently carry any linen tablecovers for umbrella tables at this time. We do carry disposable, 5ft white plastic cover that can fit a 5' round table. However, a hole will just needed to be poked through the plastic cover for the umbrella pole.
 
Q: Do tables need to be covered?
A: No, tables do not need to be covered. However, we do recommend all tables to be covered because tables show minor signs of aging. Table-coverings offer greater preference for uniformity or decor.
 
Q: What linen is recommended to cover table tops and table legs?
A: For 5 foot round tables, we recommend 120" round tablecovers (available only in white). For 8 foot long tables, we recommend skirtless tablecovers (available only in white).
 
 
Q: What size linen is recommended for the highboy / cocktail tables?
A: For cocktail tables, we recommend disposable 30" elastic tablecovers or a 60" linen tablecovers.
 
 
 
 

 

Miscellaneous

Q: Does Salina's offer certificates of insurance?
A: Yes. Salina's offers certificates of insurance at a charge for processing. Please give us advanced notice if this will be needed.
 
Q: Does Salina's rent red carpets and surrounding poles?
A: No, Salina's does not carry red carpets at this point in time.
 
Q.Does Salina's provide Dram Shop Insurance?
A. No, Salina's does not carry Dram Shop insurance. If needed, Dram Shop Insurance is the customer's responsibility to obtain and can usually be acquired through one's homeowners insurance provider.
 
Q: What is included in the carving station?
A: The carving station consists of a cutting board and heat lamp.
 
Q: What do the fancy sternos look like?
A: Fancy sternos have a stainless steel body and have a stainless steel lid.
 
Q: Can a Porta-floor be used as a dance floor?
A: Yes. The Porta-floor tiles are interlocking, gray plastic tiles. They have small drainage holes in them, small enough a high heel would not get caught, and they are non-slip. However, it will not look like a typical wooden dance floor.

Q. Is there someone who can come and cook on site for us?
A.Yes, there is a charge for this service, please call for pricing.
 
Q.What does the BBQ on site include?
A.BBQ Grill, charcoal, chef, chef attendant, & lighter fluid.
 
 
Q: Are sternos included in the BBQ On-Site package?
A: Yes.
 
Q: Is it possible to order the BBQ package without having an On-Site BBQ?
A: Yes.
 
Q: Is it possible to do an On-Site BBQ package, which includes the rental and waitstaff, yet exclude a food order?
A: Not currently at this time. It is, however, possible to rent the equipment without waitstaff or food. Charcoal grill rentals are available. Charcoal natural lump bag and lighter fluid are available for purchase, as well.

Pickup & Delivery Procedures

Q: How many days in advance do I need to place a rental order?
A: Rentals are a first come first serve basis. Early planning ensures rental availability. 
 
Q. How many days in advance do I need to place a tent order?
A. At least a week prior to the event, J.U.L.I.E. needs to be notified and rental set ups are usually a few days prior to the event.
 

Q: Can tent rentals be delivered and set up on the day of the event?  Examples: surprise party or party in a public park 
A: Rental delivery  for tents can be set up on the day of the event, there is a surcharge for a same day set up and/or take down. Also, tents will still need J.U.L.I.E. to be notified and the area marked prior to set up (This may interfere with your surprise but we can not set up tent without J.U.L.I.E. markings- it is a state law).
 
Q: Can rental machines be picked up?
A: Certain machines are available for pick-up. Ice cream carts and popcorn machines cannot be picked up due to their size.
 
Q:When picking up rentals when do they need to be returned?
A: Rental pick up is available from 10:30am to 4pm on the day of the event. Many rental pickup items are, additionally, available for in-store pickup the day before the event. Rentals can be returned the following day between 10:30 am and 8 pm. Cotton candy machines, hot dog carts, and Sno cone machines must be returned either the same day of the event or between 10:30 am and 12 pm the day following the event. If rented on a Sunday, these machine rentals can be returned between 10:30 am and 8 pm on Tuesday because Salina's is closed on Mondays.     
 
Q: Where will Salina's deliver rentals to?
A: Salina's will deliver rental items anywhere. 
 
Q: How much is the rental delivery charge?
A: Rental delivery charges vary based on location.
 
Q: Can you explain the rental delivery charge?
A: Rental Delivery charge is one charge for a two-way delivery, both dropping off and picking the items back up.

Q.What does the pig roaster cost?
A.Price may vary depending on the size of the pig. The cost would cover an 80 pound pig, the pig roaster, chef, charcoal and lighter fluid.
 
Q.Can someone come out and cook the pig for our event?

Pop-Up Shelters

Q: What surface can pop-up shelters be set up on?
A: Almost any surface.
 
Q: Do rental crews setup pop-up shelters?
A: No. Delivery will include drop off the day prior to event and pick up the day following. Pop-up shelter setup is left to the customers to do the day of due to weather and wind. Sandbags will be dropped off with shelter and are intended to be used to stabilize structure.
 
 

 Portable Bar

Q: How tall is the portable bar?
A: About 4 ft tall.
 
Q: Can the portable bar be placed on grass?
A: Yes.

Portable Johns

Q: Is there an additional delivery charge for a Portable John?
A: In most cases, no.
 
Q: Where can Portable Johns be located?
A: Portable Johns can be located on any terrain within 50 feet of a drivable surface.
 
Q: Will delivery crews of Portable Johns drive on grass?
A: Yes, if the customer's designated location of the Portable John requires the delivery crews to drive on grass to meet the foot drivable surface requirement.
 
Q: Will Portable Johns ruin grass?
A: Not usually. It is preferable to allow Portable Johns to be located on a hard surface. However, because of the brief period of time it is on the grass, it is unlikely to cause severe damage.
 
Q. How many uses does a Touch of Class portable bathroom have per rental?
A. It can be used for 8 hours by approximately 75 people. If alcohol is being served, this number will decrease slightly.
 
Q. Where is the water tank located in the Touch of Class portable bathroom?
A. The water tank is located under the sink. It is not visible, and the compartment is locked.
 
Q. Is the Portable John water tank refillable?
A. No. The water tank is not refillable by Salina's or customers. If attempts are made to refill the water tank, the unit will overfill.

Q: Which table is the sturdiest?
A: All tables are very sturdy and durable.
 
Q. Are the highboy tables square or round?
A. All highboy tables are 30" and round.
 
Q.What are the dimensions of the highboy tables?
A. They are 42 inches in height and have a 30 inch round tabletop.
 
Q. What color are the umbrellas of the umbrella tables?
A. We carry only burgundy umbrellas. 
 
Q: What is the surface of the table top for the umbrella table?
A: Umbrella tables have wood table tops.
 

 

Tension Tents

Q. How high is a tension tent?
A. Tension tents are either 9'1", 10'4", or 12'5" depending on the perimeter of the tent ordered.
 
 
 

Tent Installation & Setup Guidelines

Q: What tents can be setup over or on a patio?
A: Frame tents can be setup over or on patio. Tension tents are ONLY setup on all grass.
 
Q. Based on how many guests, what size tent would be appropriate?
A. The following estimates are based on sitting 10 guests per 8 foot table
     15 x 15 tent : seats approximately 30 guests comfortably
     20 x 20 tent : seats approximately 40 guests comfortably
     20 x 30 tent : seats approximately 60 guests comfortably
     20 x 40 tent : seats approximately 80 guests comfortably
 
Q: Are heaters allowed under or inside the tent?
A. Only heaters approved by Salina's prior to the event date are allowed beneath tents.
 
Q: Can we cook under the tent?
A: No, cooking under tents is a very dangerous safety hazard.
 
Q: Can tents be set up on mulch, gravel, parking lot asphalt, in a bush, etc.?
A: Yes. Tents can be set up on any soft surface, except driveway asphalt.
 
Q: Which tent is the sturdiest?
A: Frame tents are the sturdiest type of tent we carry.
 
 
Q: Do all tents need to be staked?
A: Yes, all tents must be staked.
 
Q: Do all tents have ropes?
A: Yes. Frame tents may require the use of ropes when additional staking is required. Tension tents use ropes for structure and weather durability.
 
Q: Are tents flame-resistant?
A: Yes. All tents and pop-up shelters are flame-resistant.
 
Q. Can a tent rental be installed in the street for a block party?
A. No, tents cannot be in the street due to village laws.
 
Q. Can a tent rental be installed on my front yard over sidewalk and grass?
A. No. Nothing can overlay onto the sidewalk according to village ordinance. Customer must receive village approval prior to event to do so.
 
 

 

Tent Walls

Q: What is the purpose of mesh walls?
A: Mesh walls are only available for tension tent rentals. They are designed to keep the sun out while allowing air flow through the structure.
 
Q: Do tent walls keep out rain?
A: Yes, tent walls can keep out light rain and drizzle.
 
Q: Do the tent side walls have windows?
A: No, Salina's does not carry tent walls with windows.
 
Q: What is the intended purpose of tent side walls?
A: The intended purpose of tent side walls is to provide sun, wind and other weather resistance.
 
 

  

Waitstaff

Q: Will waitstaff clean up?
A: Yes. Waitstaff can assist in all tasks of a party host, except sweeping and mopping.
 
Q: Can waitstaff make drinks?
A: Yes. Waitstaff can serve alcohol. Salina's just does not provide alcohol.
